Job Title: Team Manager – People Services (People Operations)

Reports to: Head of People Operations    

Location: Leeds (Hybrid working flexibility between office and home as required)


 Basic Purpose of Role 

The Team Manager for People Operations Admin is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the People Operations admin team, facilitating efficient transactional service delivery across the employee lifecycle. This role acts as a pivotal link between the Head of People Operations and the operational team, ensuring alignment of administrative tasks with strategic HR objectives and enhancing the overall effectiveness of People Operations.

This will be achieved through effective stakeholder engagement and influencing at all levels of the business on current approaches and identifying future viable approaches.


Key Accountabilities

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Directly manage the People Operations Admin team, focusing on operational excellence and efficient process execution.
  • Foster a culture of high performance and continuous development within the team, ensuring staff are motivated, trained, and equipped to meet business needs.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the execution of transactional HR services such as onboarding, offboarding, and employee records management.
  • Ensure that all processes are carried out with high accuracy and compliance with internal policies and employment law.

Process Optimisation:

  • Collaborate with the Head of People Operations to identify and implement process improvements within the admin function to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Act as a change agent within the team, promoting and integrating new tools and technologies that support the transformation of People Operations.

Performance Management:

  • Monitor and report on team performance against KPIs and SLAs, implementing corrective measures when necessary to achieve targets.
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to team members, fostering an environment of accountability and growth.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as a key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders regarding administrative HR issues.
  • Work closely with the Team Leader to ensure a seamless interface between shared services and the broader People Operations strategy.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications required

  • Proven experience in managing operational teams within an HR shared services or administrative environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, capable of driving team performance and fostering a positive work environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR processes and best practices, with a keen focus on operational efficiency.
  • Experience in process improvement, preferably with exposure to HR systems and technology enhancements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing diverse relationships and complex stakeholder requirements.
  • Experience of working with a Tier One Human Capital Management (HCM) system is preferred
  • A proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks.
  • An adaptable leader, comfortable with change and capable of leading a team through transformation.
  • Commitment to high standards of ethics and integrity in personal and professional conduct.
