Job Purpose:
As a key member of our busy Manchester Airport team, the Operations Assistant will work on a shift basis (6 days on / 3 off) and provide a broad range of support activities to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the Airport Operations. Demonstrating a high level of flexibility, the Operations Assistant will provide a general support service to the unit.
Principal Accountabilities:
The following tasks will be undertaken as agreed through the support staff strategy. Note the list is not exhaustive and that these general support activities may also be undertaken by someone not covered by this role profile:
- Direct operational support the Controllers, in the Visual Control Room, for the safe and expeditious delivery of Air Traffic Services
- Use of any new equipment installed in the airport to help with operational support task
- Receiving and actioning of flight plans and other related flight data
- Slot monitoring and co-ordination with CFMU
- Accurate recording of flight information and reports using appropriate technology/equipment (ATIS)
- Met observations using appropriate equipment
- Maintaining operational statistics, databases and reporting which might include payroll reports, KPIs and reconciliation of traffic statistics
- Support tasks related to the ATC simulator including input support and acting as a pseudo pilot where required
- Purchasing related activities & financial control/LVs, stationery
- Visitor contacts, permits, and passes
- Maintaining filing systems
- Security, health and safety, and Fire safety focal point if required
- Document Control and other reasonable administration support actives as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- A good standard of literacy and numeracy is essential for these roles
- The post holder will possess a minimum of five GCSEs grades or equivalent
- A strong team player is required with the ability to demonstrate flexibility in meeting various working demands placed upon them
- It is essential that the post holder can communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation internal to NATS and externally with customers of NATS
- Good IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Successful completion of on-the-job-training, including Met Observers certification
