We currently have a vacancy for an engineer to join our specialised team at Farnborough Airport. The successful applicant will be required to carry out planned and corrective maintenance on several systems and equipment which directly support air traffic control operations. The successful applicant will be required to perform complex diagnostics and have in-depth knowledge of safety related systems. As part of a small team, you will have the autonomy to organise tasks on a day-to-day basis and will be expected to operate at times without supervision.
Once trained, you will join an out of hours on-call roster and will need to live within one hour of Farnborough airport.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Daily operational checks of key Air Traffic Control systems.
- Maintaining operational safety and ensuring compliance with strict aviation regulations.
- Management and execution of scheduled servicing, planned & preventative maintenance.
- Fault finding, modification and unscheduled maintenance and repair of systems and services.
- Supporting projects throughout their lifecycle (subject to capacity and capability).
- Provide on the job training for other engineers within scope of competency and in accordance with operating procedures.
- Liaising with local Air Traffic Controllers and the Airport Operator to swiftly resolve issues.
Qualification/Skills:
- Engineering qualification to Higher National Certificate (NVQ Level 4) or equivalent as a minimum – within Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Science or evidence of structured engineering training, such as a recognised apprenticeship in lieu of the above qualifications, we would consider demonstrable engineering experience in a similar role involving maintenance and repairs of systems and equipment.
- A background in Aviation is advantageous, but also willing to consider those from Military, transport & infrastructure, or other safety critical industry experience (i.e., Maritime, Rail)
- A full UK Driving Licence is required for Airside driving when required.
- Flexible approach and attitude and ability to work unsupervised.
- Willing to be a Team player and support others where required.
Additional Information:
Working hours are a rotational shift pattern Monday to Friday within the hours of 06:30 – 19:00 with the requirement to be On-Call 1 in 3 weeks.
