Product Manager

NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally. Role purpose:

This role is responsible for full product lifecycle management, from inception through to retirement. Ensuring that a clear roadmap and product business case is created and maintained that aligns to the overall NATS services Strategy. The post holder will ensure that their products and services deliver sustainable profit for the benefit of NATS.

The post holder will be responsible for championing product management within NATS and developing repeatable and scalable solutions as part of the wider Product Management Team.

Other duties include:

  • Manage and drive development of new products and services to time, quality and cost
  • Ensure product build programmes are delivered in accordance with commercial needs
  • Support clarification of market requirements for current and future products & services by to ensure that the portfolio aligns to market need
  • Develop and own business case for products and services enabling funding and prioritisation decisions
  • Manage the business-as-usual lifecycle of the products and solutions ensuring that they continue to perform in line with product case
  • Contribute to and implement a go-to-market plan, working with all relevant stakeholders to execute
  • Support in the creation of marketing collateral and training programs to inform and equip sales teams
  • Analyse and improve key performance indicators (conversion, average order value etc.) to optimize overall portfolio performance
  • Operate products and services in accordance with the defined SLA. Manage suppliers to deliver work packages supporting development of products
  • Work with the Contracts & Bids team to build commercial and pricing models
  • Drive improvements to ensure the ‘unit cost’ of products and services is always optimal
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of trends in the air traffic market and related technologies

Essential Skill and Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience or training
  • Experience as a product manager or in a similar related role
  • Previous experience or understanding of agile and waterfall development methodologies
  • Understanding of developing trends in the aviation sector and related technologies
  • Commercially savvy with the ability to plan, design and build successful products and services
  • Ability to resolve conflict; build, and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborative working style
  • Proven skills in delivering high quality work within constrained timescales
