We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative workforce at an exciting and challenging time.

The role holder will manage and maintain the core infrastructure that underpins production services.  Demonstrating the technical knowledge and leadership skills providing second- or third-line support for incidents, problems and changes to solutions and services.

Being responsible for preparations and support of IT operations solutions and services – physical or virtual – according to industry and organisational best practices, standards, service requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) throughout the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

  • Leading a shift team comprising of Infrastructure Operations Engineers.
  • Provide specialist technical support and assistance to projects, ensuring delivery of non functional requirements and continual service improvement.
  • Diagnose and prioritise complex incidents, investigate their causes and finding resolutions.
  • Working on your own initiative.
  • Taking responsibility for large and small changes.
  • Analysing and resolving service delivery issues.
  • Follow and/or contribute to the development of documented processes.
  • Monitor technology performance and identify opportunities to improve it – continual improvement ethos.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders across the business.
  • Work as part of a team to provide knowledge, help and advice.
  • Develop own skills and actively coach and develop others.
  • Develop an understanding of DVLA’s services.
  • Develop deeper technical knowledge and understanding.

Additional Information

The successful candidate is required to be available on a rota basis to undertake work within a shift system covering 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. An indicative shift allowance of 35% is applicable.

Person specification

To be successful in the role, you will need to be able to manage IT systems on and off premise. You will need to support software and infrastructure development projects and be able to work autonomously.

You will be experienced in a range of systems and be able to demonstrate that you have implemented technical best practice and worked within a technical framework. You will be expected to be the technical lead and develop your team community, using your strong leadership capabilities to develop and motivate your team.
