Head of AI, Data and Technical Skills

Our Analytics team are at the core of data-driven decision-making and recommendations which shape the future of NATS and the aviation industry. This is a rare opportunity to join our award-winning team at a Management Team level.

This role will lead and advance suitable use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data and real-time analytics to ensure NATS has the timely insights needed to deliver the long-term strategy. You will provide expert technical knowledge/advice on applying AI and analytical techniques to deliver the highest value to customers, playing a pivotal role in NATS’ AI/data fluency programmes. You will drive positive change to achieve the technical elements of our strategic vision, including leading workstreams, overseeing technical communities and evolving the Analytics technology roadmap.

As part of our Management Team, you will provide clear leadership, building the team’s technical skills capability to deliver and develop advanced analytics to meet business demand. You will ensure the most appropriate emerging tools and techniques are deployed in line with industry best practice, proactively ensuring team-wide resilience and succession plans.

Applicants should have strong technical experience of applying AI, data and analytical tools/ techniques and the relevance of these, with awareness of future landscapes. Applicants should have expertise in deriving business value within complex domains, the ability to provide in-depth technical review and a good degree in a numerate subject (or equivalent). It would be beneficial to have an understanding of the aviation industry, regulatory and commercial environment and the information required to drive operational performance. Experience relating to real-time analytics and data strategy would be a distinct advantage.

We are seeking a strong communicator with sound judgement who will maintain relationships across a diverse range of groups and with proven ability to engage and influence at all levels. This includes translating technical topics suitably for Executive level, shaping their needs and identifying opportunities. You will actively simplify and collaborate with others to deliver optimal results, encouraging staff to propose innovative approaches to enhance long-term solutions. You will manage a team, coaching colleagues to develop a high standard of technical capability and moderating different technical viewpoints. You will be able to represent technical topics with credibility at external meetings, building external links.
