CAMS Driver Workstream Product Manager 3 views

Working as part of the Connected and Automated Mobility Services (CAMS) team the product manager’s role will lead on specific CAM (Connected and Automated Mobility) service development for DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) workstreams.

The workstream vacancies will cover the CAM Driver services.

As a CAMS workstream product manager you will be responsible for the development, integration and implementation of various CAMS products into the relevant DVSA service together with being the CAM service face to relevant stakeholders.

The post holder will need to develop the policies by understanding the legislation and regulations that will govern the CAMS product workstream.

As CAM is a rapidly evolving technical environment this role will require a proactive and flexible approach to personal development to keep up to date with this changing technology, it’s use cases & the GB governments objectives.

The role will closely interact with DfT (Department for Transport), CCAV (Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles) and DVSA teams including Policy, Operations, Enforcement, & Digital.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Execute management responsibilities effectively and in line with DVSA policies and processes. Working with, leading and acting as a role model for team members and colleagues in line with Civil Service values.
  • As CAMS product manager, design and develop product(s) from inception of legislation through to implementation and if necessary, closure which will include responses to technical progress, legislative changes and customer-led demand to improve the overall effectiveness of the product(s) and overall service provision.
  • Ensure that objectives and customer requirements are understood and articulated in a way to enable the delivery of the desired developments. This by creating user stories and/or high-level acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with the wider service team, including representatives from Operations, Enforcement, Communications, Digital Services, Business Change, Learning and Development.
  • Represent the DVSA at key stakeholder meetings as subject matter expert to enhance and strengthen the Agency’s profile. This could include, but not exclusively, networking events, conferences and exhibitions.

Person specification

About you

We are looking for someone who has a Full UK driving licence, as well as driver training and evaluation experience.

You must have experience of interpreting legislation and policy and then utilising this information to develop and implement service products.

It is essential that you have detailed and in-depth knowledge of the products and the capabilities required within driver services. Including policies and processes related to the service and environment in which they operate.

The successful candidate will have the ability to operate in a highly technical and changing environment. Drawing out key factors from complex situations.

As well as knowledge of change management procedures and experience of putting these into practice.

Occasional UK and international travel with potential overnight stays may be required.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Bristol, Swansea or Leeds. Your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, to carry out separate duties at alternative working locations or DVSA sites. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
