In partnership with the MOD, NATS Solutions deliver Air Traffic Control services at Military Airfields (Barkston Heath, Middle Wallop, Netheravon, Wattisham and Woodvale). This is a 21-year contract delivered jointly with Aquila, who have responsibility for engineering services.
We are currently seeking an Air Traffic Services Assistant to join the NATS Solutions team based at Wattisham in Suffolk, home of Attack Helicopter Force in support of the Marshall contract.
Principle Accountabilities:
Operating to Company procedures and Regulatory requirements, the Air Traffic Services Assistant will provide support to the Unit and Marshall Contract, where the following tasks will be undertaken: (Note this is not exhaustive and will be required to adjust working tasks to meet all Regulatory, Customer and Company requirements)
- Opening checks which include equipment serviceability checks
- Staffing the Visual control assistant’s position, which includes monitoring frequencies, recording of aircraft movements and the control of vehicles on the airfield
- Staffing the approach control assistants’ position which includes maintaining the flying program recording of ATIS
- Disseminating Weather and aeronautical information to the approach controller
- Receiving and acting upon telephone calls to the ATC unit
- Maintaining operational statistics and databases for Company, Customer, and Regulatory purposes
- Assist with document control, and other reasonable administration support activities as required
- Receiving and actioning of flight plans
- NOTAM’s dissemination and other essential flight data
- Working Autonomously on the airfield in the patrol vehicle
- General airfield driving duties, including escorting and bird scaring
- Any other reasonable support tasks required by the local unit
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience of working in an Airfield environment, or experience working with Military air traffic systems, such as: ET, CADS, MilEAMS and STARS, is advantageous but not essential as on the job training will be provided
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- A strong team player, with the ability to demonstrate flexibility in meeting various working demands placed upon them
- A good standard of numeracy and literacy skills
- Proficient with IT & Software – including use of Microsoft Office applications
- An excellent timekeeping and attendance record
- A full UK driving licence
