The Competency and Compliance Manager is a key role within the Training and Assurance team with the management of two direct reports. Reporting directly to the Training and Assurance Manager this role will work closely with management, leads roles and stakeholders across the Highways business unit. The role will advise in assuring the high standard of compliance and competence for all Highways personnel is maintained and recorded, along with any future Competency needs identified and incorporated into training and development plans.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and continue the development of the training and competence database (Odyssey)
- Alignment of wider Highways Skills, Qualifications & Experience and identify additional training requirements / action plan.
- Streamline the new starter competency assessment process for engineering and non-engineering roles.
- Liaise with the Graduate and Apprenticeship manager to successfully ensure development of Apprentices across Highways.
- Produce accurate reports on training and competency status and statistics for delivery to the stakeholder and senior management.
- Review training plans with managers to allow continued employee development within the business.
- Ensure that the technical and operational competency requirements are clearly set out and met by any of the Service Provider’s Sub-Contractors working on the NRTS project and the wider Highways business unit.
- Understand and manage apprentice deployment across regionally operational teams and support the business functions and support the learners to ensure they gain a broad experience across the Highways BU.
- Ensure that ITIL V4, CDM and Environmental competency plans are implemented, and training maintained for named personnel within the Highways team.
- Ensure the accreditation and certifications are maintained across the delivery organisation for each technology group, IP/MPLS, Optical, VMware, Ethernet, SMS Applications
Key requirements:
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders
- Experience in Database management
- Collaborative approach
- Experience with Service Now Software
- Understanding of the National Highways Sector Scheme 8
- Experience working in the Highways sector
