Job Purpose/Overview
We are seeking an International Legislation Officer to join our International Affairs team for a fixed period to help us shape the future international landscape in which we operate. You will monitor and analyse emerging international developments that could impact the business, create succinct briefings to inform and engage teams across NATS and work with colleagues to develop clear, impactful positions that engage partners, institutions and policy makers. You will also have the opportunity to develop appropriate digital tools and solutions that help the team’s overall delivery capacity. You will be joining at an exciting time as we focus on some of the industry’s greatest challenges including decarbonising aviation, integrating new airspace users and safely harnessing the capabilities of artificial intelligence.
Other Duties Include:
- Research, track and analyse international regulatory developments across relevant rulemaking authorities and standards organisations
- Develop succinct briefings to inform and engage teams across NATS on relevant regulatory developments
- Work with teams across the business to develop clear positions to be used by NATS in international engagement
- Support NATS engagement activities with relevant authorities
- Develop and maintain an appropriate suite of processes and digital tools in support of the International Affairs team’s regulatory analysis and communications activities
- Act as a focal point to help drive the team’s business improvement activities
Essential Skills and Experience
- A broad understanding and experience of international regulatory processes, ideally in Air Traffic Management or the wider aviation industry, and how to engage effectively in such processes
- Good analytical skills, an eye for detail and an ability to quickly gain understanding of complex regulatory and international subjects
- Good organisational skills with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple project activities and other priorities concurrently in a dynamic environment
- A high level of communication and inter-personal skills, particularly writing briefing papers for senior audiences and in relationship building
- An ability to progress activities independently and work effectively within a supportive team and with other teams across NATS
- A proactive and flexible approach and the ability to take the initiative and a desire for learning and self-improvement
- A good knowledge of or capability to explore and introduce the application of digital tools to business processes and / or communications
