Job Purpose:

Integral role supporting the head of Portfolio delivering a portfolio of value driven growth and innovation products. Working closely with the Programme Managers, offering support and assurance at both programme and project level.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Head of Portfolio to shape and evolve the portfolio management process including assessment of value, strategic fit, funding, prioritisation and performance

  • Support the portfolio pipeline process

  • Maintain portfolio governance cadence, e.g., Portfolio syncs and strategic portfolio reviews, along with associated reporting and insight to support approvals and delivery of the Portfolio

  • Provide analytical support and data modelling for the ongoing review of the portfolio to optimise, prioritise and scenario plan

  • Develops strong relations with programme and project managers providing support and assurance at both programme and project level

  • Understand the purpose and objective of initiatives, providing challenge regarding optimising the benefits and deliverables

  • Produce reporting and analytics for aligned project, programme or portfolio of work to inform the governance at portfolio and Board level

  • Own and maintain data sources within tools and systems to support portfolio analysis

  • Play a key role in embedding and improving use of Portfolio management tools

Essential knowledge, skills, experience, qualifications & competencies:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of portfolio management methodologies, and experience of both waterfall and agile delivery approaches

  • Experience of working within an enterprise or departmental PMO, ideally with experience of implementing organisational change

  • Excellent written presentation skills with the ability to tailor content appropriately to the required audience

  • Experience of effectively analysing data from multiple systems to produce meaningful and accurate MI for a diverse range of audiences

  • Experience of working to deadlines, prioritising a range of tasks to ensure delivery

  • Strong skills and expertise in project planning techniques and plan maintenance

  • Understanding of how to define and manage risks,Issues and dependencies at an initiative and portfolio level

  • A confident, proactive, positive and energetic

  • approach with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of portfolio support

  • Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, challenging effectively and gaining commitment

  • Experience of working in customer focused role.

  • Excellent organisational skills and a track record of producing accurate work with attention to detail

  • A keen interest in embedding project and portfolio management principles and best practice within an organisation

Scope of Influence:

  • 6-8 Product Teams with Growth & Innovation (6+ members per team)
