Senior Analyst – Safety Performance

Job Purpose:

You’ll play a key role in enabling compliance with our NATS Safety Policy by managing, planning and executing technical tasks to support Safety Performance analysis. In this analytical role you’ll provide expert scientific, technical and analytical knowledge to the Head of Safety Performance and wider team to meet our reporting obligations and support safety improvements.

This is an initial 12-month fixed-term contract that can be based remotely or hybrid. If remote there will be occasional travel to our centres in either Whiteley/Swanwick, Hampshire (ideal) or Prestwick, Scotland for team events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team in preparing and quality checking safety performance data, as well as develop and configure Safety Reporting and Tracking systems.
  • Solve any issues affecting safety reporting, performance and security of safety data systems or their interfaces.
  • Conduct and review scientific, technical or data analysis and generate technical graphs e.g., Excel or Power BI).
  • Support the production of the safety reporting documents required to achieve compliance with BMS processes such as SAF19 and SAF021 and safety reporting regulations such as 376/2014 and 2015/2018.
  • Promote and develop studies, basic research and consultancy and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and activities.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as an Analyst, ideally in Safety/Sustainability/Risk or similar.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a numerate or technical subject (scientific, or business orientated).
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Excel (advanced level) and tools such as Power BI or similar.
  • Good knowledge of Python, Data Bricks or similar.
  • Ability to communicate difficult technical and/or operational concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adept at using data to inform commercial and strategic decisions, analyse trends, explain performance, and make recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Appreciation of the importance of generating and applying best practice including use of appropriate processes such as the BMS.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire an effective team culture, by promoting team spirit, keeping others focussed and supporting colleagues.
