Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Specialist Engineer to join our Voice Communications Support Team in Swanwick. Where you will be keeping our voice switches maintained and resolving issues. You will be our technical expert, utilising your expertise in E1/QSig, AC15, MFC-R2 and VOIP to provide quality support to our operational Air Traffic Controllers.
Duties include:
- Performing day to day and strategic maintenance on our air traffic control communications systems at Swanwick Centre to agreed operational levels.
- Supporting projects for system design changes, upgrades and enhancements of our air traffic control communications systems.
- Mentoring others and providing engineering on the job training.
- Producing engineering instructions to ensure that systems are operated and maintained in a safe and professional manner.
- Technical in-depth fault finding on voice communications systems.
Essential skills and experience:
- Professional engineering qualifications to HNC level and demonstrated ability to carry out engineering work to this level, including a sound knowledge of modern electronic and electrical engineering techniques and applications.
- Experience in Voice Communication systems e.g. Knowledge of ground-ground and air-ground communication.
- Experience of working with electronics systems in a safety critical environment.
- Proven ability to communicate technical information in a clear and precise manner.
- Experience in E1/QSig, AC15 and MFC-R2 protocols is desirable.
Additional vacancy information:
You are likely to be liable for on-call as part of the 24 hour support to the operation. There may be the need to provide telephone support or attend out of hours for service restoration, or to deploy service changes and you must be able to attend Swanwick within 1 hour of the call.
