Supplier & Contract Manager

Job Purpose/Overview
The role will be responsible for the development, contractual oversight & management of Technical Services commercial contracts. The role will focus on assessing performance against contracts and ensure that Technical Services is able to elicit the targeted value and benefits of the contract across the commercial lifecycle.
The role holder will act as an SME in Technical Contract management and an exemplar of best practice, sharing skills & knowledge with colleagues to develop our internal contract management capability across the relevant areas of TS.

Other Duties Include:

• Oversees and measures the fulfilment of contractual obligations within projects and programmes ensuring the benefit / value of the contract is maximised
• Provide Leadership on supplier relationship activities within Technical Services
• Build, maintain and align a view of all relationships and their inter-dependencies with goals and objectives, to ensure contract deliverables are understood, realised and effectively managed.
• Instil a regime of formal supplier performance reviews to ensure consistent supplier performance and contract value is being received.
• Develop and apply key performance indicators to monitor and challenge performance and identify opportunities for continual improvement.
• Ensure corrective actions are taken as required. Developing strategies to address under-performance and compliance failures, including the application of contract terms.
• Track, own and mitigate risks relating to specific contracts
• Provide commercial expertise and advice to Programme & Projects & across the Service/Asset Portfolio
• Embed, promote and champion change control processes and lead variation negotiations when necessary.
• Develop the commercial/contract management capability across Technical Services to support a best practice approach to contract and supplier management

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a STEM or Business related discipline or significant demonstrable experience in lieu of a formal qualification
• Membership of a relevant professional body ideally with chartered status
• Experience working in complex safety critical environments, preferably in critical national infrastructure
• Proven track record of commercial/contracts management and all aspects associated with the writing, placing and administration of contracts
• Experience in NEC contracts
• Highly developed commercial skills and demonstratable ability to make sound decision on matters of significant financial value
• Strong communication skills including writing reports and presenting
• Experience of resolution of contract disputes
• Experience as a Commercial Manager on multi-year programmes/projects/Services
