Job Purpose:
As a Navigation Services (NAV) System Engineer, you will work as a member of an expert technical team responsible for managing and assuring radio navigation services and systems. Primarily, you will provide expert knowledge and technical responsibility for an Emergency Position Fixing display system and the associated network of Aeronautical Radio Direction Finders.
Additionally, you will perform system engineering activities required for the development and sustainment of our network of En-Route Aeronautical Radio Navigational Beacons and the associated processing, control, and monitoring systems.
Key Duties:
- Ensuring the design and development of NAV Services meet the needs of assigned Work Packages to the expected integrity and reliability standards.
- The production, review, and upkeep of engineering documentation
- Technical supervision of resources to achieve business objectives set by the NAV Engineering Manager
- Definition and management of system requirements and specifications for the introduction of new equipment and systems that form NAV Services
- Generation and documentation of solution concepts and feasibility studies
- Provide technical expertise and support to projects delivering new systems into operation.
- Engineering assurance and regulatory compliance, including safety and cyber security for NAV systems.
- Planning and managing system integration, verification, validation, acceptance, and entry into service.
- Conduct Configuration Management activities.
- Manage technical risk throughout system lifecycle.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Expected to hold, as a minimum, an HNC (or a relevant equivalent qualification and several years of proven relevant experience) in an Engineering related discipline and have relevant engineering experience.
- experience of high-integrity real-time systems within large scale, multi-disciplined projects and practical experience of systems engineering testing and integration.
- Communicate verbally and in writing clearly and precisely.
- Work proactively both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Experience of requirements capture software safety assessment and assurance considerations as part of system design and test integration.
- Experience of working in a technology delivery environment, ideally with knowledge of radio theory, radio wave propagation, ICAO Performance Based Navigation, and ICAO standard Navigation Aids.
Knowledge of:
- Networks and client/server infrastructure.
- Operating Systems LINUX, Red Hat (RHEL), Fedora.
- Windows Server + Microsoft SQL Server Applications.
