System Engineer – Suppression
As a Sprinkler Design Engineer, you will be responsible for all design activities on projects and small works. This includes systems designed to BS9251, BSEN12845, and incorporating all industry membership guidance and Health & Safety requirements. This key role will provide technical support across Sales, Operations, Service, and business accreditations.
Key Responsibilities:
– Management, supervision, and inspection of fire protection projects to current British, LPC, FIRAS, BAFE and other applicable standards.
– Manage the delivery of all design and technical aspects of projects and small works
– Oversee the design and compliance process from point of sale to completion
– Serve as an internal link within the company, offering technical support to all departments
– Attend project design meetings and represent the company at kick-off meetings as required
– Lead customer meetings, visits, and audits, providing timely reports and updates
– Interact with accreditation bodies such as FIRAS & LPC
– Handle all design-related compliance audits, both internal and external
– Create, deliver, and complete all design drawings as required
Advise the Board of Directors on compliance issues, design workload, and industry updates
Qualifications and Experience
– More than five years of experience in the industry
– FHC Design LPC/BS Qualification
– Fluent in Canute and AutoCAD
– Strong understanding of relevant sprinkler standards (LPC, BS, FM rules/guidance
Sprinkler & Water Mist Project Manager
– To expertly handle sprinkler or water mist installation contracts from initial enquiry through to final accounts.
– Assume full financial control of projects, delivering the works efficiently and profitably, including responsibility for raising purchase and subcontract orders.
– Effectively manage the installation work on site; attending regular client meetings; having responsibility for health and safety; producing progress updates and reports; and completion of project quality assurance checks.
– Prepare and communicate detailed programmes of work to ensure deadlines and contract requirements are met.
– Liaise with suppliers, design, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and information flow, and accurately report to clients, contractors and governing bodies as necessary.
– Negotiate, monitor, and produce quotations for contract variations.
– Highlight possible problem areas at the earliest opportunity and obtain commercial advice where necessary.
– Prepare technical reports and submittals including operating and maintenance manuals and handover documents, by collating and presenting relevant information.
– Identify and report deviations or nonconformities from scope, Standards or contract.
– Any other duties commensurate with the role.
Qualifications
– NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management
– CSCS Construction Skills Card
– Health and Safety Qualification, IOSH, SMSTS, etc.
Experience
– Experience of construction project engineering or management
– Experience within sprinkler or water mist suppression project engineering or management
– Knowledge of current relevant suppression British Standards and Regulations, including LPC BS EN 12845, BS 8489, BS 9251, NFPA, FM Global Knowledge of sprinkler or water mist equipment and installation
