The role will have a clear focus of assisting the Criminal Analysis Unit increase the level of effectiveness of enforcement activity. The post holder will support the department’s Criminal and Insight Analysts in delivering critical targeting and intelligence products. The post holder will also have responsibility for liaison between DVSA and Other Government Departments to maintain existing working relationships and to act as the point of contact for relevant targeting and intelligence analysis exchanges.

The role holder will also be accountable for maintenance of content on the Intelligence Unit SharePoint, ensuring documentation is relevant and timely and that reviews are carried out as directed by DVSA policy. They will deliver analytical products to support the Commercial, MOT and Driver and Rider schemes as well as Other Government Departments and Agencies within the United Kingdom and European stakeholders.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the identification of trends in non-compliance in the Goods, Passenger, MOT and Driver (practical and theory) schemes and through the analysis of complex and often sensitive information.
  • Assisting the Criminal and Insight Analysts in the continuous improvement of internal processes by making recommendations for system improvements.
  • Supporting the Criminal Analysis Unit and the Strategic Traffic Management Office through analysis of data to produce vehicle of interest ANPR targeting lists.
  • Supporting Intelligence development using Power-Bi and Intelligence Database software.
  • Maintaining elements of the Intelligence Unit SharePoints’ including updating intelligence, targeting and information packages.
  • Managing the Criminal Analysis Unit mailbox, to triage and respond to queries as appropriate.
  • Regular contact with members of the Intelligence Unit, corporate senior leaders, enforcement managers and teams across the organisation.

Person specification

To be successful in this role candidates will have experience of using Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel with advanced features and PowerPoint).

They will also have the ability to handle and analyse large data sets and so will also possess excellent attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills will be key for this role combined with drive and a commitment to succeed.

Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbally) and have the ability to provide an excellent customer service for a variety of stakeholders. They will also be required to use such skills to deliver presentations.
