The Licensing Casework Officer works within the Office of the Traffic Commissioner (OTC).
The Traffic Commissioners (TC) and NI Regulator have varying responsibility for the licensing and regulation of GB based operators of heavy and light goods vehicles involved in international transport, buses, and coaches (public service vehicles) and of those who drive them, the registration of local bus services, adjudication of appeals against the impounding of vehicles operated without a valid operator’s license and other functions.
The role holder will work as part of a team to process new and variation applications for goods vehicle (HGV) and public passenger vehicles (PSV) operator licences and bus registrations on behalf of the Traffic Commissioner/ NI Regulator.
The role holder will accurately record data provided on application forms and managing a caseload that will have competing deadlines and tasks. They will need to ensure that all necessary information has been received to enable the processing of the applications, within legislative requirements and in line with the guidelines set by the Traffic Commissioner. They will provide help and advice to applicants, where required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the day-to-day processing of applications for new or variations for HGV or PSV operators’ licences and bus registrations working on behalf of the TC/ NI Regulator.
- Responsible for the accurate input of data inputting ensuring quality provision of an operator licensing, registration, and regulation service for and on behalf of the traffic commissioners.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer/operator enquiries offering advice and assistance where possible.
- Execute own responsibilities effectively and in line with DVSA policies and processes, ensuring that daily tasks and activities are delivered against agreed objectives.
- Liaise with relevant internal and external departments to ensure that internal and external customer needs are met and that these requirements are fully communicated throughout the business.
