Job description

You will be joining a reporting team embedded within DVSA’s management accounting, that supports stakeholders throughout the business, reporting financial data through Power BI.  You will be pivotal to developing and maintaining robust timely financial information which provides insight to enable quality decision-making.

You will be innovative, motivated to improve processes and drive efficiencies with robust solutions utilising available tools and software. You will manage a small team and maintain the financial system master data.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Provide expert advice regarding data management to internal stakeholders.
  • Lead on the management of data through extracting, cleaning, aggregating and manipulating data from various sources.
  • Ensure financial management reporting is robust and effectively communicated.
  • Automating data management activities where possible.

Person specification

To succeed in this role:

  • You will be an expert user of excel including Visual Basic Applications.
  • You can successfully manipulate, interpret and present large amounts of complex data.
  • You have experience of building and maintaining complex Power Bi reports that deliver financial insight from a range of data sets, including developing data flows and data measures.
  • You have experience of working with financial systems, preferably SAP.
  • You can demonstrate a creative and collaborative approach to problem solving and analysis.
  • You can manage continuous improvement projects to successful delivery, for example scoping, capturing user requirements, iterative delivery.
  • You have fluent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting analytical insights to non-specialists.

Additional Information

This role can be based in BirminghamBristolLeedsNewcastleNottingham or Swansea, your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, to carry out separate duties at alternative working locations or DVSA sites. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
