The Planning and Performance Manger will support the Planning and Performance Grade 7 and Senior Executive Officer in the production of the annual business plan, annual report and accounts, service and directorate plans and the strategic plan.
They will lead on the departmental app ‘Strategic Tracker’, ensuring thorough and comprehensible set of deliverables that are tracked against corporate strategy.
As well as leading on the development, publication and performance monitoring of the agency’s annual directorate plans.
The Planning & Performance Manager will be expected to lead on the production and quality assurance of internal and external corporate performance reporting for the agency and directorate reviews. Leading on the production and quality assurance of the monthly performance report for ExCo and the Directing Board (and other performance monitoring as required)
They will respond to requests for performance reporting input to ad-hoc tasks across the agency (both internal and external) and work closely with business owners and stakeholders to support the business change proposal process.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure that the directorate plans align with the strategic direction of the agency, any relevant Government Reviews and consultations and DVSA business plan requirements.
- Ensure effective performance reporting is available to Senior managers, including the Executive committee and DfT, ensuring that the content and level of detail is appropriate to the audience and has appropriate sign off.
- Work with directorate planners and service owners to prioritise key deliverables for current and future years ensuring that the resource dependencies are identified.
- Demonstrate leadership by providing guidance to staff to support the delivery of objectives. Manage and engage with honesty and integrity, and upholding the reputation of the Agency, Department and Civil Service.

You must have experience of organisational performance management systems and the interpretation of data to identify performance levels and trends. As well as knowledge, understanding and use of Microsoft Office applications, such as, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
You will be an excellent communicator with great writing skills and experience in drafting reports. Personal interaction skills are key, and you must have the ability to present data confidently, even to senior leadership. Using your strong interpersonal skills you will have the ability to present and explain complex information in simple ways and interact with staff at all levels. In addition its important that you can present your analysis clearly in both text and data tables showing your high level of accuracy and attention to detail. As well as experience of processing data, identifying trends and providing recommendations for action.
