Project Manager – Support 32 views

The purpose of the Project Manager – Support role is to support the Head of Property Investment to deliver and maintain an effective, efficient and sustainable estates portfolio supporting the needs of Corporate and Operational Business Functions.

The role is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of projects across the DVSA estate in line with all departmental requirements for commercial management, financial management, risk management, business continuity and governance. The role will be required to provide professional and technical advice, support and challenge to internal and external stakeholders in relation to Projects.

In addition, the post holder will be expected to support the programme managers and Head of Property Investment in delivering more complex/high value projects

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Ensuring compliance with DVSA financial, procurement and contract management policies and procedures when commissioning works or services and awarding contracts to Specialist Service Partners.
  • Producing supporting documentation for Business Cases and provide persuasive benefits, options / recommendations and/or solutions for approval.
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert on Estates Financial and Commercial processes including SAP, Project Management Support, Contract Management and Risk Management.
  • Overseeing all financial and commercial processes.
  • Maintaining Estates Delivery Board risk register and work with Estates colleagues to escalate project or service risks, assess new risks and issues and recommend mitigating actions / solutions to protect/maintain building assets, Estates resource and Estates deliverables.
  • Providing financial (or other) data to support financial and departmental reporting requirements.
  • Identifying and agreeing solutions to works / Finance / Commercial related issues.
  • Working alongside Project Managers to identify building/property related works and/or customer requirements making recommendations and assessing priorities.
  • Communicating with all key stakeholders, including having responsibility for management and chairing of project meetings.
  • Supporting complex Projects under supervision and support from senior colleagues.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess financial management and contract or commercial experience. You will also have gained experience within project management or estates and possess resource management skills.

The successful candidate will also have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and be highly organised within their approach.
