Key Requirements for Transferees

Eligibility

To be eligible to transfer to Wiltshire Police, you will need to:

  • Transfer from a Home Office police force (including British Transport Police, Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Scotland)
  • Be a current serving police officer in a Home Office force
  • Passed your probationary period
  • Pass the necessary vetting and occupational health checks
  • Hold a full UK manual driving licence
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues
  • Be able to show commitment to achieving high levels of attendance
  • Not be a member of the British National Party or similar organisation
  • Declare any business interest
  • Be able to satisfy tattoo guidelines

Please bear in mind:

  • Ministry of Defence, Civil Nuclear and British Transport Police applications will be considered on a case by case basis. You will be asked to provide any training documents which will help our learning and development team to assess your training against our Wiltshire Police standards
  • Applicants who have existing county court judgements outstanding against them or who are registered bankrupt and their bankruptcy debts have not been discharged for at least three years will not be considered for appointment.
  • Applicants with individual voluntary agreements (IVA) will be looked at on an individual basis.

 

What happens after I apply?

  1. You will receive confirmation of receipt of your application
  2. Your application will be reviewed to ensure you are eligible
  3. Eligible candidates will be invited to attend a values-based interview
  4. If your interview is successful, your application will progress to vetting and medical checks
  5. You will be required to attend a medical, uniform, biometrics and fitness appointment
  6. We will then contact your line manager and your current Force’s HR department for a reference confirming your service dates, vetting, PSD checks and salary details
  7. Once appointed, you will be posted onto the next available intake.
  8. After starting with Wiltshire Police, you will attend a one-week induction course before starting in your assigned post.

All postings will require the individual to serve at least two years in that role unless organisational demands dictate otherwise or officers are successful with a promotion application.

Important information before you commence an application

  • National Insurance Number
  • Identification Detail e.g. passport
  • Address information
  • Referee information
  • Full employment history including dates and any qualifications you may have attained
  •  Tattoos – you will also be requested to provide photos and describe of any visible tattoos you have

You may require the following documents to complete this application form:

  • A Passport style photograph
  • A copy of your photo card driving licence
  • A downloaded DVLA summary showing full driving record
  • A copy of your paper driving licence counterpart (Northern Ireland only)
  • A copy of your British Passport or birth certificate (if a candidate does not have a passport, then they may use their birth certificate, but will need to provide a copy of a British passport once they have obtained one.)
  • Copies of your qualifications relating to English and Maths (only). If applying for the Degree Holder Police Constable Apprenticeship, you will need a copy of your Degree Certificate.
  • Clear, colour photos of any non-intimate tattoos
  • Formal translation from a reputable source for any foreign language or symbol tattoos
  • Any paperwork relating to discharged debts, CCJ, bankruptcy etc
  • Deed poll certificate for any name changes
